Mr. Fletcher is the President and CEO of Intellectual Property Insurance Services Corporation (IPISC). Under Mr. Fletcher's direction, IPISC serves as the Managing General Agent and Program Manager for intellectual property risks. In addition to founding IPISC 25 years ago, Mr. Fletcher is a patent attorney with more than 40 years of experience in the prosecution of patents and the business and legal phases of patent practice. Mr. Fletcher holds degrees in Chemical Engineering and Law from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the University of Louisville. He is a member of the State Bars of Wisconsin, Illinois and Kentucky, and is admitted to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office. His interests include keeping current on developments in law and technology, travel, metaphysics, gardening and domestic projects.
Sheila A. VanMeter Executive Vice President & Treasurer
Ms. VanMeter is Executive Vice President and Treasurer of Intellectual Property Insurance Services. Her responsibilities include management of Finance, Accounting, HR and administrative support and she has been with IPISC since its incorporation – 25 years ago. Prior to IPISC, Ms. VanMeter was Assistant to the Chief Patent Counsel at American Air Filter Corporation, Patent Administrator, and Vice President of HLPM Inc., the patent licensing subsidiary of the Hilliard-Lyons Investment Banking Company in Louisville, KY. Ms. VanMeter holds degrees in Business Administration and Applied Sciences from the University of Louisville. Sheila enjoys her pets, warm weather, walking, gardening, reading, and all sports, but particularly University of Louisville Cardinals basketball and football, and the Kentucky Derby.
Charles T. Baxter Underwriting Manager & General Counsel
Chuck Baxter is Underwriting Manager and Associate General Counsel at IPISC, and has been with the company for 13 years. He is a registered patent attorney who underwrites applications for defensive and offensive insurance for patent, trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property risks. While in private practice, Mr. Baxter litigated copyright, trademark, publicity rights, defamation, licensing, insurance defense and insurance coverage cases. He is past Chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Louisville Bar Association, and a frequent speaker on issues relating to IP and insurance. He received his JD from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, studied physics at the University of Louisville, and received his BA from the University of Kentucky. Chuck is a music lover who enjoys a live show or playing his guitar.
William L. Ritter Assistant Vice President
Licensed Agent 30 Years Selling Property Casualty insurance. He is a Senior Account Representative employed by IPISC 25 years selling Abatement and Defense Insurance as well as other services. Bill has been married for over 20 years, is the father of three young men, grandfather of two, he loves the outdoors, loves to ride his Harley and is a Louisville Cardinal Fan!
Amanda has been with Intellectual Property Insurance Services Corporation (IPISC) for over 5 years. Amanda processes all applications for insurance submitted to IPISC as the initial step in underwriting the risk; maintains IPISC’s customer database and client files; creates final documents to prepare insurance proposals; in addition to preparing and sending final policies to insureds. Amanda attended Sullivan University in Louisville with a Major in Business Administration with a Concentration in Management. She holds a Patent Paralegal certification from IPLegalEd. Amanda is a proud dog mom and wife. In her free time, she is an avid book reader and is slightly addicted to numerous TV series.
Curtis Droege Underwriter
Curtis has been with IPISC for over two years. He is a mechanical engineer with over 20 years of experience, a patent agent with over 10 years of experience, and an inventor on 25 US patents and applications. Curtis has held the position of Worldwide Patent Manager for a $3B technology company, having responsibility for developing a corporate patent strategy, a global patent management process, managed ad-hoc infringement analysis teams, and conducted patent education for more than a thousand technical staff worldwide. Outside of work, Curtis enjoys outdoor activities of all kinds.
Jim Shepherd Senior Account Representative
Jim began his career as an insurance professional in 1987, with the last 20 years being dedicated entirely to the sales and service of specialty intellectual property insurance contracts. As a Senior Account Representative Jim works with wholesale and retail agents as well as directly with clients to assist them in understanding the risk intellectual property lawsuits present, and explores with them options for transferring that risk to IPISC’s highly rated insurance carriers. Jim can offer solutions in every sized industry ranging from small start-ups to large companies with revenue in excess of $1B. Jim is a die-hard U of L Cardinal fan and loves spending time with his granddaughter, Myka.
Robin Fletcher Primary Underwriter & Licensed Insurance Producer
Ms. Fletcher started working for IPISC in the summer of 1987, doing clerical work, research and data entry. She continued working for IPISC periodically through college and graduate school. After law school, Ms. Fletcher took a full time position with IPISC, and to date has over eighteen years’ experience working in claims, underwriting, and doing various projects in data analysis, sales, and marketing. She helped draft current policy language, served more than fifteen years as Corporate Secretary, and is the primary underwriter for the asset-backed insurance product. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and JD and MBA degrees from the University of Louisville. She is a member of the State Bars of Indiana and Kentucky, is a licensed insurance producer in the State of Indiana, and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is an avid reader. She is interested in any nerdy subject of conversation.
Lisa Camarata Treasurer
Lisa Camarata is the Assistant Treasurer at Intellectual Property Insurance Services Corporation. She has been with IPISC for over fifteen years and handles the accounting and compliance functions for the company, including financial and insurance carrier reporting and audit preparation. Lisa attended the School of Business at the University of Louisville with a Major in Accounting. Lisa also coordinates blood drives in her community with the American Red Cross.
Maureen Veterano is a patent attorney and senior underwriter at Intellectual Property Insurance Services Corporation (IPISC). Maureen received her undergraduate degree from Bellarmine University and a Juris Doctor from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, and is a member of the State Bar of Kentucky. Prior to joining IPISC in 2005 she was in private law practice focused on general business matters and represented regional real estate title insurance companies as well as group self-insurance insurance plans. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and is a volunteer for several community organizations.
Amy G. Smith Executive Assistant
Amy is the Executive Assistant to the President/ CEO of Intellectual Property Insurance Services Corporation (IPISC). With ten years of experience with IPISC, she has exceptional knowledge in several different areas including accounting, underwriting, and administration. Amy acts as a liaison between various departments keeping the president apprised of operational details. While originally from Florida, Amy enjoys being outdoors during all four seasons in the beautiful Bluegrass State of Kentucky. Her favorite mode of transportation is her 1957, wildcat-blue, Ford tractor; but her daily driver is a Jeep Wrangler.
